Managed Cloud Services

Managed Cloud Services: maximum flexibility for your data center.

Cloud is a valid choice for organizations of all sizes. Proact sees the cloud as a ‘Service Delivery Framework', that offer services such as data recovery, storage and infrastructure against an extremely competitive price model. Cloud is always billed as a ‘pay as you go' model.

Proact offers a broad spectrum of cloud services that can be realized both on-site and off-site. Cloud services are provided on the basis of service level agreements (SLAs).

Our portfolio consists of the following Managed Cloud Services:

  • Remote Management (RM)
  • Data Recovery as a Service (DRaaS)
  • Business Continuity as a Service (BCaaS)
  • Storage as a Service (STaaS)
  • Infrastructure as a Service(IaaS)

This allows complete integration of important issues such as security, scalability, secure multi-tenancy (a number of clients using a shared IT infrastructure), performance and innovation of the cloud services offered.

Traditional IT infrastructures

One example of traditional IT services is based on an approach whereby applications are installed on physical servers with locally attached storage. The data deployed by the users of this application is stored in storage infrastructures (silo's) coupled directly to the server. The consequence of this traditional model is inefficient use of the hardware, lack of scalability and increased administration.

Private and public cloud

By now, many organizations have begun virtualization of their IT infrastructure. This is mainly done at the server, storage and network equipment level. The direct link between the applications, data and physical hardware has then been completely severed. If this fully virtualized environment is located within an own data center and/or separate and secured infrastructure, it is known as a private cloud. In case of a public cloud we are referring to an externally shared data center infrastructure, multi-tenancy or not, connected to an external network.

Cloud services and SLAs

The central idea behind cloud computing is that organizations offering cloud services make use of virtualized and secure multi-tenancy infrastructures to reduce the total cost of ownership compared to isolated silos. Clients can then acquire cloud services based on agreements regarding availability, performance and security. These agreements are contracted in service level agreements (SLAs). This cloud provider can therefore be an internal or external partner who can offer IT services at a lower cost than a traditional data center. External cloud providers will achieve ‘economy of scale' and will therefore often be able to offer similar services at lower prices to the market.

Cloud computing and advantages

There are many advantages to cloud computing. Organizations should concentrate on their core business rather than trying to reinvent the IT wheel. Outsourced cloud computing models encourage this behavior, and ultimately reduce costs around IT customization exercises. The requirements and wishes of the business can be realized by entering into service level agreements (SLAs). This involves a cost reduction element. Organizations are no longer forced to invest in hardware and software and location based services. With managed cloud services, a shift is made to OpEx services, rather than traditional upfront CapEx costs.

InControl Software

Proact has chosen InControl Software to offer and extremely efficiently manage Storage as a Service based on proactively managed SLAs. The 3rd generation InControl is a full storage services ECO-system that enables Proact to offer all kinds of storage and replication services. For more information visit www.incontrol-software.com.
